CMDbar is a command line utility to control Windows from a keyboard.  It runs under Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT operating systems. The program allows user to type most known commands as copy, del, dir, easily launch favorite programs, navigate to WWW links, quickly access and explore favorite folders, etc.  CMDbar supports easy-to-use file management window, multi-line aliases, favorite files, folders, programs, file filters and many built-in commands.  Math expressions can be evaluated directly from CMDbar (command '=').  CMDbar can also store and run scripts written in one of the popular scripting languages (VBScript, JavaScript, PerlScript and PythonScript).  VBA-like scripting capability is available (like VBA macros in Microsoft Office), so, all CMDbar commands can be called within scripts.  Internet Explorer 4.x an higher users can benefit from current folder synchronization between CMDbar and IE.  User is assisted by Quick Help (tooltip window displaying description of the currently typed command) and Smart Command Complete offering automatically possible commands (like Internet Explorer auto-complete).  Drag-and drop support makes configuration of CMDbar very convenient and fast.  A hot-key can be assigned to CMDbar for fast access.

Use CMDbar for:

  1. Fast command typing -- type command, aliases or shortcut to a favorite item and the command will be performed.
  2. Fast access to files -- start typing of a file name and CMDbar will offer the available file, press <Enter> and application associated with file will launch.
  3. Fast access to various system settings and folders -- type cpanel and the Control Panel opens, type time and Date/Time Properties appears, etc.
  4. Fast access to favorite folders, programs, WWW links, files -- start typing of given shortcut, CMDbar will offer the whole command, press <Enter> and the favorite is launched, explored, browsed, etc.
  5. Easy navigation among folders -- use commands back, up and forward as well as command cd.
  6. File filtering -- define favorite file filters or just type command like *.doc, press <Enter> and File Management dialog displaying matching files appears.
  7. Better work with Internet Explorer 4.x and higher -- CMDbar's current folder can be synchronized with one IE window, so user can navigate to different folder either in CMDbar or IE and use both programs very easy and efficiently together.
  8. Write aliases for simple batches or more sophisticated scripts to automate various tasks.
  9. Fast and handy math expressions evaluating.
